2nd Annual Fresno Food Expo a Success

85 San Joaquin Valley food producers, 450 registered buyers and over 650 Fresno foodies. In its second year, the young Fresno Food Expo is growing into a signature event for the San Joaquin Valley’s thriving food industry.

Created as a component of Mayor Ashley Swearingin’s economic development plan, the Fresno Food Expo helps local food companies connect with local, regional and national foodservice and grocery retailers. In addition to Fresno being America’s most productive agricultural region, the Fresno Food Expo is already the largest regional food show this side of the Mississippi. MJR Creative Group is extremely proud to be a producing partner of the event.

This year the Food Expo relocated from the Grand 1401 to the Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center and offered exhibitor spaces to food companies from entire San Joaquin Valley.  With the expanded format we saw some new faces including Cold House Vodka, a vodka and gin producer from Modesto and Grimmway Farms of Bakersfield, the largest carrot grower, packer and shipper in the world!

Exhibitors officially launched over 25 new products at the Expo including new flavor offerings from P*DE*Q and the award winning “Grape Escapes” from Kingsburg based HMC Farms.

Buyers from major retail chains like Whole Foods, Wal-Mart, Supervalu, Safeway, Trader Joes, Kroger, SaveMart, Vallarta, Costco and Food 4 Less were in attendance as well as local restaurateurs and foodservice providers like Sysco and Saladino’s.

The support the Expo received from the local community during the public event exceeded our expectations. Over 650 Fresno foodies came for the public portion of the Expo and were delighted to learn about our local food producers. Many people were surprised at how much food we actually produce and how important food and agriculture is to our region’s economy.
